A downloadable game

You are Mark Heath, God rest your soul.

A short university project where you play an elderly man who's just woken up in a strange place. Is this Hell? Limbo? Or somewhere else?

The goal of this project was to create a vertical slice demonstrating level and story design for a walking sim horror game; focusing on Dread, Atmosphere and Intrigue.

Despite being a short and ugly game (I could only find a sound designer to help me), any feedback and comments are much appreciated.

Content Warning: Christianity, death, implied homophobia/transphobia*, empty/liminal spaces

*note: some of these elements are veiled inside secrets within the game and can easily be overlooked or missed on a playthrough.

So short but sweet! I'm really interested to see more!

I liked your game! It was interesting and the thought behind it was intriguing! I wish it were longer and had more horror/purpose because there was a lot of stuff that could have been done. I liked it for the short experience it was tho! Good job! (btw your game is the first game and it ends at 4:40! Hope you enjoy!)

Reminds me of Penumbra and the latter Amnesia

So let’s start off, I used to play the aforementioned games as a teen around 10years ago, this definitely reminded me of them, the art style, story and the movement especially. Talking of which, the movement is really good and weighty! The art style is nice and simplistic, the rough edges don’t take away too much from the atmosphere either. The elephant in the room is that it’s short, but I’m sure with progress and updates the story will continue!

Good work!

Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm currently in a game jam but hope to work on an update after the competition is over. I haven't played Penumbra but it definitely looks like the kinda game I'd enjoy - will try and pick it up :D

i get clipped in the floor when i start the game

Huh, I haven't heard of that problem before. Sorry that happened to you. Does this happen every time you load the game? What framerate does the game run at for you? I'm guessing it's an error with the chunk loader not activating fast enough, will try and fix for you as soon as I can

thanks. Yes it does happen everytime i launch the game. I am very gratefull of you taking time to notice my comment. Thank you

Short, but pretty freaking nice. I liked the atmosphere for it, and the story was definitely interesting. Although I wish there was an option to run/walk quicker, I'm looking forward to the final version of the game!

Ah damn, love the video man, honestly didn't expect this uni project to get so much attention - already started making plans to expand the game after graduation now that I've seen all the feedback.

Hey there! Just saw some gameplay of this and love the atmosphere you created, very inspiring! I have about 8 years of music production experience and I would love to produce your music/create the foley needed to push your atmosphere to the next level. If you are ever working on a new project I would love to amplify your mix!

Ahhh thanks man, I had a listen to some of your tracks on sound cloud and it's pretty next level stuff. I think I'm going to stick with Nick for moving forward with this project, but I'll consider hiring you in future; the tracks I heard defo have this intense metallic energy that'll be great for a sci-fi games

Scared and confused...thats all.Good work though!:)

Ahh nice, great video. Sorry if the ending was a bit confusing, I'm working on an update where you pick-up the item instead of just walking into it (as you accidently did at the end), just to make it clearer. btw, was the baby cries too quite for you? My idea was the sound would lead you to the right cot, but it doesn't look like that was all too clear for you

walking too slow no running option

Played through the game myself and love how it turned out. Was fun working on the sounds for this game, especially the ambiences. The playthrough was fun and the level design is pretty cool, hope to see the game taken further in the future, great job implementing the sounds too btw!

Thanks so much Nick, the game wouldn't have been the same without you!

Hello, I played this game and I liked it, wish there was a bit more going on tbh, and the framerates weren't great most of the time, but over all it wasn't too bad, good work :)

Ah thank you so much for trying my game out, I've been told about some framerate issues I was unaware of, will try and patch them up so it runs smoother
